for immediate release:- Standing On A Bridge - An Americana Debut Embraces the Best of Roots Music and Rock Influence
SACRAMENTO, CA - Once in a lifetime an artist gets an opportunity to launch a debut recording. Much like that all- important first impression, a debut recording sets the tone for much of a musician's career. Americana recording/performing artist, Garrett Morgan, launched his debut recording, "Standing On A Bridge" Tues. Dec.6 on iTunes. The CD will be available through http://www.cdbaby.com and by visiting http://www.garrettmorganmusic.com Listen to all six cuts from the EP at http://www.garrettmorganmusic.com/press-garrett-morgan.
Taking his strongest influences from John Mayer and Dierks Bentley, Morgan's storytelling is what makes this music important. Much like the folk tradition where stories and songs are passed down from generation to generation, the Americana genre embraces that ideal which resonates with a crossover audience who gravitate toward traditional country, and traditional rock-influenced styles.
Morgan was born in California, grew up in Texas around San Antonio, and currently lives in Sacramento. With the inclusion of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar and drums, the instrumentation sets Morgan's music apart from the more ubiquitous categories overpowered, and overcrowded with emerging artists.
On being an independent artist, Morgan has this to say. "I can reach every single fan that Sony or Columbia can, I just have to make better use of resources. I'm fortunate to have figured out that to be able to make music other people love hearing - music that tugs at their emotions - is such a huge honor. I'll never take that for granted."
The Mag, said, "...[Morgan] has a strong voice, and an ear for a classic sounding tune." Hello Music said, "Rousing energy...your lead vocals really grabbed us."
A full-length follow-up CD is slated for release in mid-2012. Morgan's growing audience is decidedly female, spanning a roots-oriented, faith-based lifestyle.Live music is among the interests they actively participate in as concert-goers. Morgan's charm, good looks, and emerging music is sure to become a favorite among circles from the west coast across the country to the red dirt regions where Americana originated.
